St. Louis, Mo: Garage Door Colors and How To Choose

Ahhh... your garage door.
It's an extension of your house and can make-or-break your home's curb appeal. And color, without a doubt, is a vital component of curb appeal.
So what ARE the garage door color alternatives nowadays? The good news is there's absolutely NO shortage of options! St. Louis homeowners choose black, white and everything in-between including grays, browns, natural wood tones and all-glass too.
However, the sheer number of possible garage door colors can be mind-boggling: there are literally hundreds of choices with factory finishes and custom hues that are feasible. But don't fret. There's always MORE than one great color pick for every residence. It's a matter of deciding what's best for YOU.
Here are five quick tips for color selection to help whittle down the choices...
Tip #1 - White garage doors are the most popular but that doesn't mean EVERYONE should automatically choose white. Nor should you. And white garage doors are certainly NOT all alike. Their styles (and materials) can range from contemporary to classic OR traditional to carriage house simply by changing the panel design, window placement and hardware options.
Tip #2 - Opt for a garage door to match the dominant tones of your home if you want the door to blend in. If your home is rich with exterior details like shutters, brick or stonework, a door that blends in won't detract from these other architectural details. The opposite is true if you want your door to stand out.. then select a door with a stark contrast.
Tip #3 - If your home is brick, you'll have a number of great colors to choose from. Many St. Louis homeowners hand-pick a door to match or complement the undertones in brickwork. Examples include gray, beige, almond, black, white or even a natural stain for solid or faux wood doors.
Tip #4: Does your home have a white exterior? An all-white exterior can be impressive or if your home is on the smaller size, choosing a white garage door will make your house look larger. On the other hand, if the front door (trim or shutters) is black, a beautiful new black garage door can work well too. Black is a bolder color choice but it's trending in 2020.
Tip #5: Always an easy choice, a garage door color to match your front door is especially popular when the garage is street-facing.
