Can I repair Myself?

Well, it depends. There are certainly some components of the garage door that can be DIY. In fact we have some how-to videos available on our YouTube page.

Some items that you can generally do yourself:

• Straightening Photoeyes that have become mis-aligned
• Programming a new remote
• Re-programming a keypad
• Programming a car remote (Homelink)
• Changing a hinge(sometimes)
• Changing a roller(sometimes)

For other repair tasks we will always recommend a professional. Your safety should be your concern and when done incorrectly, garage door components can be extremely dangerous.

• Red equals danger-never remove these screws before relieving spring tension
• The cables hold ALL of the tension from the springs – Never cut or attempt to remove without relieving tension (this includes the bottom roller bracket).
• Not all springs are created equal – We often see expensive DIY failures because a spring is incorrectly sized or placed in the incorrect orientation. Often this causes additional damage well beyond the cost of the initial spring replacement.
