What do I need to look for when choosing a company to help with my garage door?

It is always a good idea to do some research. Make sure the company is registered, licensed, and insured. This helps to protect your property. Reviews and testimonials are also a great place to get a feel for how the company interacts with customers and how the experience with the technicians is. Feel free to browse our reviews here. We are licensed with the State of Idaho and carry all the proper insurance. Give us a call today from anywhere in the Boise area to get your questions answered: (208) 725-3253

Your name is ProLift Garage Doors of Canyon County – do you service Ada County and surrounding areas?

The name is based on our main office address, but we service the entire Treasure Valley: Boise, Meridian, Kuna, Eagle, Caldwell, Middleton, Star, and Nampa. Our technicians are located throughout the Valley with fully-stocked trucks aimed to get to you quickly when you need us.

What garage door services do you offer?

We can repair, replace, and install most any residential garage door issues. Broken springs, dented panels, frayed cables, missing rollers, bent track, tune-ups, lubrication, inspections, broken garage door operators, and more. We work with the major brands in the Boise, ID valley: Amarr, Doorlink, Wayne Dalton, Hormann, Martin, LiftMaster, Genie, and Marantec.

What is a garage door tune-up?

Our tune-up service includes a 21-point inspection that covers the complete garage door system: the door itself, rollers, hinges, cables, drums, springs, operator, sensors, and switches. We will also lubricate the moving parts to help quiet and elongate the life of your door. We will also provide recommendations for anything that we find. We cover the entire Boise, ID area and aim for same-day service.

Can I install a garage door by myself?

This is not advised. Garage door installation requires special tools and knowledge – please do not attempt it on your own. Door panels are easily damaged, and the springs are required to be under immense pressure. Please call the professionals at ProLift Garage Doors (208-725-3253) for an estimate in the Boise, ID, area to ensure your investment endures.

Why does my garage door not open/close anymore?

Garage doors work well…until they don’t. We usually take them for granted until they stop working. There are many reasons why your garage door has stopped working the way it did yesterday. Photo sensors, springs, and operator gears are all suspects. If you inspect all the moving parts of your door and are unable to find the cause, please call ProLift Garage Doors at 208-725-3253 and we can inspect your door and provide you with options for repairs or replacement in the Boise, ID, area.

When should I replace my garage door?

This is a great question. Most doors by themselves will last around 20 years. Just like your car, it needs regular maintenance so that the moving pieces do not erode quicker than expected. If you have kept your door up to speed with a tune-up twice a year, your door will perform well. Your garage door springs have a limited life cycle, and we can help educate you on what to watch for and how to tell if they are close to the end. Of course, if you would like to change the style of the door, add windows, or switch to an insulated garage door, we would be happy to provide options to help you increase the value of your home in the Boise, ID, area. What can I check myself before calling a garage door technician?

If your door has stopped raising fully by using the garage door operator, you can do a few things to troubleshoot. First, release the operator by pulling the red cord – this disengages the door from the operator. Then, try to lift the door by yourself manually: if it feels excessively heavy (you should be able to use one hand to lift a door), look above the door on the inside. If you see black springs, is there a break in one (or both)? Or, if you see a silver tube, the springs are on the inside and not visible. If the door raises and lowers easily, then the operator may be bad. Please call ProLift Garage Doors at (208) 725-3253 with any questions or what you find, and we can help from there. Our technicians cover the valley from Boise to Nampa and will be ready to help when you need us.
